April 14, 2014

The cold weather has just arived here in Buenos Aires as we get closer and closer to Winter! Everything is wonderful down here in my area, Villa Madero, as the members and missionaries are working TOGETHER to bring more souls to the waters of baptism! We come to understand that it is the Lord's will that the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do their part to bring Living souls to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We just finished training our ward in how THEY CAN BE MISSIONARIES TOO. We learned together the importance of 1.) LOVING THE PEOPLE we talk to every day and that if we don't have love we can be humble and ask the lord for help. We also talked about how important it is 2.) TO BE BOLD, because we know that without an invitation people will never ask, look for or do what they need. As Saints we need to OPEN OUR MOUTHS and INVITE EVERYONE to come unto Christ.
The members also came to the conclusion how important it is to 3.) ASSOCIATE WITH THE MISSIONARIES. To talk with them, call them, help them, let them into your homes and feed them so you can recieve blessings and so they can bless your home with the word of God. There's alot of things that you can do with the missionaries. What did you do this week in relation to the Work?

Thank you all for your prayers and the things that y'all have done to help and understand that you all in my prayers. I love y'all!

Have a great week!

We had a week this week! The husband of our newest converts has gotten ever so worse with his alcohol and drug abuse and lately hasn't even been giveing food to his children and has become violent and even though I don't really like the idea of seperation, she is kicking him out of the house to protect the children. It's really sad but thier faith is keeping them going.

The mission continues to grow and the amount of baptisms is increasing and as we set goals and make plans we can see our efort isn't wasted as we see the charts go up and up

Thank y'all for all the suport and prayers and know that your in mine and remember that If we really want to help the people come unto christ we can't just set an example but we have to open our mouths and declare repentance and invite.

for those of y'all that want to find me on the map my area right now is Villa Madero in the Aldo Bonzi stake!

With lots of love

January 6, 2014

Christmas and new year's passed with a bit of sadness and we lost alot of investigators to the enticings of the world. Argentina is a very worldly place and many people here sucub to it's temptations but it must be understood that this happens in every part of the world and it all start's with tolerance of sin. When we start to look at whho our friends are or what things are in our house or how many times we let things pass by without corecting it and this can hurt our personal progression. many members of the chuch have adopted passive tollerance for things and people and never do a thing to change the situation or do it to slow and without boldness and this is wrong and this the reason why many people live and die with our haveing a true repentance and are damned on our behalf. This week I looked someone it the eye and in the middle of the street called out their abomonation and called them to repentance and is now on the path to true repentance. I invite everyone of you to be bold this week and change the live of those that cross your path. and for those of you that don't think it's your job because you are not missionaries, repent because christ said you don't need to be called to cry repentance
Thank you for your prayers and god be with you till we meet again.

Thank you for all the Chrismas wishes for those of you that have sent them and I send my gratitud for all of the help that I have recieved from all of you this year and I want you all to know that you are in my prayers.

We recently had changes and I have been put in a ward about 400 members but only 27 go to church and many have apostatised and have no desire to listen to us. It's a very good example of what can happen to us if we don't take care of our testimonies or suport those in/less active members and so this Holladay season make sure you remember your savior and that you are helping others remember their god.

For those of you that are making plans for newyear resolution and weight loss is on your list go out with the missionaries this next year. I weighed my self the other day and this year I have lost 30Kg or about 60-70 pounds ;)

I love you all don't forget that and always help those who need it because this is the true church and Christ would and will help those who ask.

Hasta el proximo año!

PS we won't have time to write for a while because we are going to the temple so don't worry!

With the holliday season make sure you are all thinking about the less-in active members in the ward and even the widows and the youth that don't have the opportunity to enjoy a good christmas day with there family. Paul told us that all these people have claim on the church even social needs and so allways think on that

thank you for your prayers and everything you do

Bueno,

This month of Noviembre has been off to a great start with plans for 5 bautismos at the end of the month. The fact that the summer sun has come out in full blast has helped us alot because no one ever leaves the house durring winter. We have had a lot of Exitó here in La Misión Argentina Buenos Aires Oeste that one of the Doce will be coming down to speak with us.

My newest compañero in from Guatemala, se llama Élder Asturias and we have the exact same time Acá en la misión.

And just a little something for y'all to think about, When was the last time YOU baptised? After all of my time here I have noticed something. The members in the world are lasy. Every day I see members not missionaries of churches like Jehova witnesses, evangelists, 7th day adventists, catholics ect. preaching their false doctrine to the world and the members of the one and only church of Jesus Christ have a fear of doing missionary work. In all of the standard works and teaching of prophets in the latter day we ALL have recieved the call to do missionary work and if your not sharing and preparing people to be baptised then you CAN'T call yourself a worth saint in the church of Jesus Christ. We also have recieved revelation that if you are not worth you will lose all you have and what is the greatest blessing we recieve? Eternal life with our families. And so if you do not share what you have you will all have a very lonley eternity in the terrestrial kingdom with out you families. and so If I were you I'd go right to the missionaries and the bishop and ask them what you can do. Go and baptise. There should be a baptism in your ward every week. no exuses

Thank you for your prayers

Haven't y'all heard you have to give to recieve? I got a very upset phone call from my mission president saying that y'all were upset because you haven't heard anything. Well I have sent a stack of letters and have sent quite a few e-mail to all I haven´t recieved a response. It's not like I wanted a good word or two from my family while I'm down in the 3rd world doing to lords work. but anyways that's in the past and I will forgive.

Here's the update: I learned spanish within three weeks of ariving here in argentina, we've had a mountain of baptisms and spring just started. The food here isn't as good as they said but oh well. and I've been in three different areas with three different companions all who only spoke spanish. I´n my last letter I sent I said I needed new pants because the ones I have now are really big and right now I´m trying to find members to tailor my suits because they are really really big because I droped about 50 pounds.

I love this work and I love the gospel and our prophet and my faith is unshakable. There is no greater work than to share the gospel.

Como vocês está minha tia e meu tio?

So I've been transferred to Português for a while and I'm wondering how you can call it the celestial language when it sounds like Spanish with marbles in you mouth ;)

Everything is wonderful and exciting! Salt lake is packed with Anti's and things like that so I'm always on my toes. I enjoyed seeing y'all at conference and everything. No word on my VISA so I have no idea how much longer I'll be here. How long did you have to wait for you VISA to brazil?

The mission is wonderful and I'm super excited for the things to come!
This Church is true and so is everything that comes from it!

Eu vou falar com você mais tarde, tchau!

How are y'all doing? I hope everything is going ok. I've sent a few emails but I think I got the emails wrong. Everything has been going ok in El CCM save for the fact I got sick on day two :/ It got really bad and then four weeks later they told me I have pneumonia AND a viral infection in my lungs and a sinus infection! They got me on some medicine now that is working but before they put me on something that was damaging my muscles and my joints so I stopped taking them. Other than that everything has been fine here. I got a letter the other day saying we don't have our visas and that we get reassignments next Thursday. I hope it's still Spanish because if not everything I learned is going to go out the window. The food here is pretty bad but I guess it'll have to do until I get all that steak down in Argentina lol. The amount of missionaries in the MTC is growing fast. Normally there are only 1500 missionaries here at a time and when I got here there was 3500 and by July there will be 6000! they are opening BYU housing for missionaries really soon too because there is no place to put them all!
Sorry this is so short I might get to call when I get my reassignment!

De la Misión:
Packages From Home
We are sorry to say that with new restrictions and fees that are being imposed by the government of Argentina, we are no longer able to accept packages for the
missionaries. We have made this decision in conjunction with President Robertson, who will preside over the mission beginning in July and in conjunction with other missions in Argentina. Do not use other methods such as FedEx, DHL or UPS as we will not attempt to retrieve those packages. We recommend sending your missionary a bank card that you can refill from home if they need to purchase items here in Argentina. Before sending the card, please ensure that the card can be activated without the involvement of the missionary in the field. We will do our best to obtain those packages that are still in transit, but there is no guarantee that we will be able to retrieve them. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this issue.

( Familia Sorensen I got the package in december but I was only trcently able to pick it up in the office! Thank you so much!!)

Another week passed and we had more successful baptisms. We baptised a Mother (cintía)  and 3 of her children unfortunatly the father (Ricardo)  wasn't baptised because he doesn't want to give up alcohol And didn't even go to the baptism of his family and so if y'all could pray for him it would be wonderful.

Thank you for all the suport and remember that The spirit will only help you share the gospel if YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH!!

Have a wonderful week!

February 17, 2013

WOW! There have been a lot of changes and activities going on in the mission (Trainings, meetings, preparing for the new mission president, Baptisms, ect.) and I finally have a little bit of time to breath (which doesn't happen often!)
This last week we baptised Noemí Cuenca, who has been haveing a lot of problems with family and her house almost flooded with this last storm we had and almost left the day before her baptism but kept the faith and was baptised and is now bring a handful of friends to church on sunday who are now preparing to be baptised which goes to show when we put in our batteries the lord can work wonders with our own hands
this Sábado that is coming there will be a baptism of Maria and Leonardo, mother and son from Perú they quickly gained a tesimony of the truth and now even before there baptism are shareing their testimonies with EVERYONE that passes their way. Working walking or in the bus even all the neiboorhood knows what they knowe because they are willing to open there mouth and share the gospel and they are even more blessed because they do it without being asked.
There is NO other thing that we can do that can even compare with the work of salvation exspecially among the living and visably see the change that the gospel brings everyone that recives it.
